Hello to all fellow listers -- as I mentioned in a post last week (but
not with this subject line, so you may have missed it), I am going away on
holiday from 6 May (this Saturday) until 2 June.
But, not to worry, you will not all be left on your own. During the time
I am away, a very experienced "list sitter" will be with you. Her name is
Mari and, as a matter of fact, she joined the list a few days ago and, since
then, has been "lurking" to see how things are done here. So, welcome to
Mari and thank you for volunteering to sit our list. I feel comfortable
leaving things in your capable hands.

Mari does not have any Huguenot or Walloon background (as far as she
knows!). Therefore, our area of research is new to her but she's very
interested by it. So she will be here to see that the list runs smoothly in
my absence but will not be posting any Huguenot/Walloon interests. It's all
up to you, then, fellow listers. There are 275 of you out there so please
continue to contribute to the list over the next month. I look forward to
seeing some interesting posts in the archives when I get back.

Some of you have contacted me privately about various subjects over the
last while and, if I've not replied, please forgive me and send me a
reminder when I get back, during the first week of June. I've just simply
been too busy.
I'll still be here over the next couple of days so we'll just carry on
as usual til then. Many thanks to all of you who have been posting to the
