Hello, all -- I'm sorry but I am in list janitor mode for this message.

List guideline # 3 -- The subject line of your posting must always match
the content of your message. For example, include a surname (n CAPS), a
location or a time frame. This will guarantee that your mail will be noticed
by the target group. It will also save a lot of time because others can sort
and filter important and less important messages easily only by the subject
line. Also remember that some listers sort and delete the postings by the
subject line text. The more precise the subject line, the better the
possibility that an interested lister will read your posting!

To this, I would add -- remember that others, in future, will be
scanning subject lines of messages in the list archives. Make sure you have
one which will get their attention. Also, take special care to change the
subject line, if needed, when replying to a previous post.

List guideline #5 -- Please, no personal messages posted to the list.
If your message is meant for one person in particular, please send it to
that person privately, off-list. Postings beginning with Hi (someone's name)
or Dear (someone's name) should be avoided as this implies that the post is
to one person only.

I would comment here that messages beginning with Hi Andrea or Dear
Andrea are also discouraged. If the message has content of general interest,
then there is no need to address it to me specifically. If the message is
meant only for me, send it to me off-list please.

Hope listers do not feel this is being picky. I am merely applying list
guidelines which were generally agreed to some time ago and which are in our
"welcome message". If anyone has a problem with the guidelines, however,
please contact me and we can discuss it (off-list). My best to all, Andrea
