Mar about his surname of interest -- FRANCISCO -- saying it was thought to
be Hispanic not French, the family legend (unsubstantiated) being that the
origins were in Madrid.

Here's another possibility. Chris, have you considered the name
DEFRANCESCO? There is someone researching this name listed in 1999 GRD.
Dates and areas of interest are -- 1630-1800 Switzerland, also 1630-1870
