Hello, fellow listers -- you are probably wondering about Pierre's note so I
thought I would provide the following explanation. This not only gives me
the opportunity to thank Pierre for his efforts but also to explain about
one of Rootsweb's rules.
A day or so ago, Pierre kindly sent to the list a 12 generation outline
of his family. However, because he sent it was an attachment to his post --
and not in the body of his message -- Rootsweb would not allow his message
to get through to the list. Rootsweb does not allow any attachments, no
matter how interesting or worthy they are <g>. I have no control over this
and I was the only one who received Pierre's post (as list janitor).
This is the case with any messages which have not been sent strictly
according to Rootsweb's rules (ie. incorrect unsubscribing, bounced
messages, etc) -- Rootsweb lets me know what is going on by sending me these
messages so I can deal with them as needed. The action I took in this case
was to let Pierre know that his post did not get through and why.
So, there you have it. But, hang on, I am sure there is a way we can
post Pierre's 12 generation tree for the benefit of all. And still keep
Rootsweb happy. So stay tuned -- hopefully, it will be posted soon.
Best wishes to all, Andrea (list janitor) P.S. And for those of you
wondering about *fuhrerin* -- Pierre can correct me if I am wrong but I
believe this means *female leader* and he, of course, does not mean to imply
that I use a jackboot approach to list management <vbg>. In any case, it
started off my morning with a chuckle.
