<I know this may be a stab in the dark but I found your family history
website. Hipple is not a very common name. I was wondering if there were
any way that our family's might connect @ some point.

My great-grandfather was John Franklin Hipple he was born about 1896 and
died in 1986 or 87. I think he may have been an only child I'm not sure who
his parents were. As far as location, I could only go back as far as
Banbridge Cemetary in Pennsylvania.

There were a ton of Hipple's there but only about 10 or so that I knew.

Coriena:

You might want to check the 1900 Census for him. He would be abt 4 yrs old and his parents would be shown. But first we need to know where he was born and lived as a young child.

I found his WW1 draft registration card which shows he was born in Bainbridge which is Lancaster Co, also his father:
part 1:
Serial No 29 Registration No 65
1. John Franklin HIPPLE age 21
2. residence 622 Cumberland Harrisburg PA (Dauphin Co PA)
3. BIRTH 12/30/1896
4. born Bainbridge PA
5. I am a citizen of the US
7. father's birthplace Lancaster Co PA
8. name of employer: Penn Railroad (Roundh???) in Harrisburg
9. name of nearest relative: Mrs. Ellenore HIPPLE
address of nearest relative - same as #2
I affirm that I have verified above answers and they are true.
signed: John Franklin Hipple

part 2
Registrars Report:
color of eyes - blue
color of hair - light

signed by John C Orr on 6/5/1918, Registrar
Local Board Division #3 Room 312 222 Market St, Harrisburg, PA

In 1900 Census, in Middletown, Dauphin Co PA, there is this family with Ellenora for a mother, but I don't see John Franklin in it, which is puzzling........
Roll: T623 1403; Page: 4A; Enumeration District: 89.

John HIPPLE age 49 born 9/1852, coal dealer, m 23, PA PA PA
Ellenora wife age 41, born7/1858, m 23 yrs, 8 children, 8 alive, PA PA PA
James son b 9/1879, age 21, school teacher
Mary J dau age 18 born Dec , in school
Elizabeth dau age 15 May 1885, in school
Steffen son age 12 12/1887, in school
Blanche dau age 9 7/1892, in school
Leroy son age 7 Mar 1893, in school
Eugene son age 4, Apr 1896
Charles E son age 9mos born aug 1899

None of these children are born when John Franklin says he was born in 12/1896!
All of them are born in PA and parents born in PA. Maybe John F was adopted by them? He does give Mrs. Ellenora HIPPLE as a contact in his WW1 registration.

In 1920 Census in Pittsburgh, Allegheny Co PA, there is a Frank HIPPLE, age 23, with wife Marie age 22, and son Robert age 3 and sister-in-law Gertrude McCabe age 18. Is this your gr-grandfather's family?

Bainbridge in Lancaster Co PA on the Susquehannah River next to York Co and below Elizabethtown. That is the cemetery you were referring to?

In 1930 Census there is a Frank HIPPLE, age 34, divorced, born in PA, and boarding in a home in Cleveland Ohio, Cuyahoga Co. , gas station attendent, for oil and gas.

There is also a John F HIPPLE in Harrisburg, Dauphin Co age 33, with wife Caroline E age 29, and 5 children: Dalphine, 6, George C age 8, John F age 7, Ralf E age 3mos, Percy S age 3. His occupation was hoseler in steam railray.

What was your gr-grandfather's wife's name? Or the name of your HIPPLE grandparent? Are any of these children in your family?

Social Security Death Index shows:

I found this information on Ancestry.com.
