Which Lawrence/Lorentz is this? There were a few around then! Is there a
spouse mentioned in the pension file?

All able-bodied men between the ages of 18 and 53 had to serve in the
Pennsylvania Militia at the time due to the act of March 17, 1777.

Two Lawrence Hipple's fit this criteria:
1. Laurentz b 27 Jan 1728, who immigrated with his father Johannes in
1738. He died 3 Oct 1795.
2. Lorentz (Johannes, Jacob, Henry Hipple) b 8 Jun 1754; death Unknown
however his last child was born 22 Sep 1795; he probably lived for a time
after this.

Abstracts of Rev. War Pension Files by Virgil D. White, lists "Lawrence
HIPPLE, S4368, PA Line, sol's name appeared on a list of applicants for invalid
pension returned by PA to the House of Reps on 25 Apr 1794, srv as a Pvt in
the 4th Bttn of PA Militia & was disabled in 1777 at Derby CT, sol lived at
Pikeland in Chester Co PA in 1794 & he reapplied there 27 Oct 1819."

Therefore, it must be the 2nd Lorentz above, since the 1st had already died
when the pension was reapplied for. There were no other Laurentz Hipple's
alive who were the correct age to have fought in the Revolution. The DAR
approved application papers for the 1st above, however the wrong service was
attributed to him. They both could have served because of the act of March 17,
1777.

Likewise, I have a copy of the application papers and there is no mention of
the wife's name. I do not have the death date for Margaretha, wife of the
2nd Hipple above. Perhaps someone else out there can add to this.
Best wishes,
Margery
