19 September 1772 in Pikeland, Chester Co., PA. He married ELIZABETH
UNKNOWN.
Notes for HENRY HIPPLE:
"Henry immigrated with his father in 1747. The ship's list contained only
the anmes of males over the age of 16 years, indicating Henry was born
after the year 1731. He died in Pikeland Township, Chester Co., PA between
19 Sept 1772 (date of will) and 04 Dec. 1772 (date probated). In his will,
Henry directed his estate to remain in possession of his wife, Elisabeth,
until 04 Apr 1777. He gave all his land in Pikeland to his son Laurence,
who was to pay 230 pounds to be divided among his wife and othe children:
Henry, Catharine, Ommi, Elisabeth, Mary, Maryliz, Chirstiana and Jacob. He
names his wife Elisabeth, John Smith and kinsman, Laurence Hipple of
Vincent Township as his executors. His will was witnessed by Frederick
Hippls and Davis John." (A Middletown Family, James and Mary Ann Miller

Notes for JOHN HIPPLE:
OCCUPATION: Mr. Hipple living east of Waterside, supplied tar to all the
community. He burned it in specially prepared kilns from the rich pine to
be found on Tussey Mountain. Tar was used in wagon making and about the
farm for medicinal purposes. If an animal received an injury, tar was
applied to the wound. (See Historical Sketches of Morrison's Cove, pg. 20)
TAX: 1808: John Hipple Sr. is listed and taxed in Woodberry Township for
189 acres by patent: 4H, 4C farmer, $273 assessment with a tax of $3.78.
Also, 200 acres in the Barrens by patent, $50 assessment. Also, 280 acres
by Harts, warrant, $70 assessment.
LAND: Martin Loy applied for 200 acres including an improvement in
Morrison's Cove in Hickory Bottom Run, adjoining land claimed by Jacob
Butterbaugh and land claimed by John Hipple 14, Jan. 1785; John Hipple and
wife Ann of Woodberry Twp., Bedford Co., PA to William Diltz of same place
- 209 plus acres, 100 lbs., being part of a larger tract of land which was
granted by patent to said John Hipple 24 Mar. 1794 containing 419 1/2 acres
called Greenfield, situated in Morrison's Cove on the Meadow Branch and
Hickory Bottom Branch of Yellow Creek in Woodberry Twp. John Hipple and
Anna Hipple signed their names. Witnesses were William Piper and Thomas
Nixon - Jun 3, 1798 (AA 1,243/5)
MISCELLANEOUS: On Mar 11, 1818, Jacob Hipple was appointed to act as
administrator of John Dilts after John's son William who was named
administrator by the will. William declined because he said he is an
"elderly infirm man and live a great distance." (Montgomery Co. OH - Ken).

others were captured or killed by Hessians war, Amboy, N.J. He applied for
a pension and his claim was allowed.
