Subject: [HANDCART-L] TONKS DERRICOTT Handcart Company

Hi list.

I am still trying to pinpoint the company that the TONKS family travelled
with. I have some new information, which may help pinpoint this.

This is the family of William TONKS and Martha TONKS (nee DERRICOTT). The
marriage record has still not been found.

According to their son's (George Moroni TONKS) obituary the TONKS' came
across the plains in a handcart company when George was 3 years old. George
was born in New York in Oct 1856 so this would have been late 1859 / early
1860.

They lived in Morgan, Utah until 1893 when they moved to Victor, Idaho.
William TONKS was a blacksmith.

Family lore states William and Martha married in England but the ships roster
of caravan (1856) shows Martha travelled under her maiden name. I don't know
when William TONKS (Sometime srecorded TUNKS) emigrated. Family lore says it
was at the same time.

Any advice / info welcome.

Regards
