IRISH ORIGINS
Land in Ireland is divided into many different jurisdictions. Kyle explains
how to Locate Place Names in Ireland by better understanding religious and
political boundaries. Provinces, counties, civil parishes, townlands, field
and farm names. There are also small communities within townlands not large
enough to be towns; these communities have unique names and may only include
a few houses. Read Irish Origins to find the key to a puzzle that is a
challenge for many of us.http://GlobalGazette.net/gazettes/gaz51.htm
EAST COAST KIN (Canada)
Sandra reveals her Soft Spot For All Things Irish as she describes her
excitement to learn of a series of queries published in the Boston Globe
between 1831-1860, in a regular column called The Search for Missing
Friends. Irish folk from all over North America sent queries to the Globe in
search of brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, father, mothers, husbands and
wives who had become separated from them. A list of transcribed examples
gives you a taste for the resource.

NOS RACINES FRANCAISES (Our French Roots)
The records of New France, early Canada or Quebec were influenced by its
French beginnings. This is why even today Quebec records may be mysterious
to many. It is not just the language but also the carry-over of French
practices and customs that makes the records of the Province of Quebec
different from those of other Canadian jurisdictions. This week Xenia begins
a new series to help those working on their French Canadian roots: VITAL
RECORDS IN THE PROVINCE OF QUEBEC PART I - FRENCH INFLUENCES

LOYALISTS IN CANADA
LOYALIST LISTS. Family historians are always excited to find an ancestor's
name in the index of a book. Finding the ancestor's name on a list of
Loyalists is equally exciting. But what does that list really tell us?
Brenda Dougall Merriman discusses contemporary records the sources and the
parameters that a compiler has used. She explores the questions: Is there a
date and location attached to the list? Who compiled it? Why was it created?
