I recently purchased the collected United States Census Bundle 1607 -
1880 from Broderbund. If it is a comprehensive listing, it should be a
very useful research tool for the average researcher and save a lot of
time.

However, after ordering this 11 cd set I discovered that the
description of the cds indicated "SELECTED COUNTIES". If these
indexes are not comprehensive, or at least relatively so, I want to
return them since they were quite expensive. However, I can find no
one who can give me any idea of how to determine this. Searching the
introductory material on several of the census years I could not find
a listing of the coverage. The sales representatives could not give an
answer but thought all published indexes were included in the set and
assured me of this at the time I ordered.

I have written to representatives of the company but have heard
nothing in a several week period either on a rootsweb list or
personally.

I have many of the Broderbund cds which are extremely helpful, but I
also have some such as the Mortality Index 1850-1880 which were
relatively useless because the coverage was NOT AT ALL COMPREHENSIVE.

Can someone give an approximate percentage of published census
indexes included in this set. Were all the published indexes
included? I do understand that not all census material in the US for
these years was indexed. I would think there should be a listing
somewhere of indexes by the counties included for each state as well.

I welcome any clarification by Broderbund or fellow researchers. I
am hopeful they are relatively complete.
