John:  I also put our question to the Editor of Popular Photography and here
is there response"

"Anything that has deicate or unstable pigments of the type that would fade on
exposure to the sun can possibly be damaged by continual exposure to bursts
of flash. I am sure that many museums etc. overstate this risk for logistical
and pecuniary reasons, but you would have to judge each case on an individual
basis."

>From their response it would appear to be a matter of some truth on both
sides
of the coin.  As I mentioned to you earlier, surveys with local labs indicates
a 50-50 opinion.  So I am will just assume it is a case of both and leave it
at that.

Thanks.

George
