Thanks so much for your ideas. These books truly are more than just
Geneology: They are about lives lived. Your approach to presenting them to
busy, disinterested family members is well taken.
I like the idea of starting with each of the children and then go on to
other relatives. And I am sure I will take your advice on that. My main
impetus to go to all this work is the sudden realization that when I am
gone, anyone's memories of my grandmoter, as well as other in the family,
will be gone. It will be almost as though she had never been. Added to
that, no one will ever have the same memories as I do of her. So, I'm
working on personal memories: helping grandma dig potatoes and walk the
watermelon patch. Watching her cooking up a storm in her hot, steamy
kitchen and still having time for a pesky little girl. Concerned for me
that I was so afraid of her banty rooster, and the warm, yeasty smell of her.
I want to add pictures, etc etc. as far back as I can go, and, as you said,
add to it every year. Thanks for your suggestions.
