Hi,
To find a Cupp in the middle of a Cox Cemetery intrigues me, especially
when
this Knox County, Ky Cemetery is no great distance from Claiborne County, TN,
where I have a many, peripherally related Cupps. I assume that the one above
is
somehow related through the Coxes to us. I am going to take the liberty of
sending
this list plus the URL to several of my non- Cox cousins and let them
speculate.
There is method in my madness. There were Coxes in Claiborne County to
whom I can find no ready, apparent link and yet the ubiquity that Coxes seem
to have plus their proximity to Knox County, KY, where I have close links plus
their possible connection to another ubiquitous surname like Cupp may supply
my
connection to the Claiborne, Co. TN Coxes. In no way am I claiming that the
surname, Cupp, has the ubiquity as does Cox.but it does seem to have a
"regional
ubiquity" with a seeming connection to a good number of people in Claiborne,
Co.TN,
at least in my case.

PS. I found a facsimile of a handwritten letter of WILA COX , written ca
1910.,
Five Rivers, Oregon, In this letter he signs his name as WILA COX.
This letter shows that he used the given name of WILA rather than WYLEY.
I have never seen WILA used in any other instance but shall begin using it
as his given name.
