I want to apply for 1966 NSW Death Certificate for a friend for who I am
researching his family history.
The NSW Registrar seems to be a very strict on the relationship of the
applicant, whereas Victoria is fairly relaxed.
Will NSW issue such a certificate to me ? or will I have to go through the
procedure of forwarding the application to my friend and have him obtain it
?.
For a family History Fee of $20.00 (otherwise $26) they also require the
Index number. Where can this be obtained for such a recent death ? (their
index is only to 1945)

CENSUS - The census to be held on the 7th Aug 2001 will be the first
national census to survive for 173 years.
But only a part of it !. The Australian Bureau of Statistics will only
retain, on microfiche, copies of the form on which respondents tick YES for
question 50. All others will be shredded.
Please join with the thousands of genealogists, historians, doctors,
geneticists, epidemiologists, demographers and others, and tell your family
and friends to answer YES and help save these important records for the
future.
In case you fear an invasion of privacy, these records will NOT be released
to researchers for 100 years.
So, DO NOT FORGET - to question 50, answer a resounding YES !.
