At the commencement of Civil Registration, the parish
records were required to be deposited with the Registrar
of BDMs. In fact what is called the ECR component
of the BDM indexes derives from these registers.
(ECR = Early Church Records).
Don't forget they might appear in the NSW Pioneers
Index as this covers period prior to seperation, they
ought to be on the Vic. Pioneers too, but who knows.
When you did your search, did you use the latest
Vic Pioneers CD with the Digger search engine?
And lastly, not everyone was baptised/christened,
so if they were not done, then there is no way
they will appear in the indexes prior to civil
registration.
