Subject: Anzac Day - Any War veterans out there ?
Date: Thu, 20 Apr 2000 21:50:36 +0930
I am hoping some one - specifically war veterans may be able to help me out
with a query in regards to Anzac Day .
My daughter is involved in the Girl Guides .Her unit is one of the few local
ones that has formal dress uniform .She has been asked to be part of the
group of Guides that " Trooping The Colours " at the Cross of Sacrifice
Service After the March on Anzac Day .
She is marching in next of kin " Army " in the march on my Dad's behalf & my
husband will be in next of Kin " Airforce " on his Grandfathers behalf
.After the march all our family goes down for the service at The Cross of
Sacrifice .I have a bit of an idea from what her leader said that she will
be involved some how with carrying the Australian flag or walking before the
Governor General for the official ceremony .The problem IS that I do NOT
know exactly WHAT " The Trooping Of the Colours " is .
Is any one out there that can explain exactly what The Trooping of the
Colours " is ? When I rang the Adelaide RSL there was no one available to
tell me exactly what it is .
I hope some one can help .
