Subject: No viruses through RootsWeb's mailing lists

Hi Susan,

You will have already seen both Ken's and Clive's answers about the
book that was mistaken for a spam. :-)

To further allay fears, I will now tackle this with my official
RootsWeb hat on, though either my GSV membership hat or general
standing in the genie 'net community probably do equally as well.

RootsWeb's mailing lists are set up so that subscribers CANNOT get
virus from their mail. A virus can ONLY be sent as a binary
attachment (that is a program of sorts), RootsWeb only allows text
messages to be sent to subscribers and anything that is binary is
bounced back to the sender with a notice to the list-admin for their
information.

For good information about viruses and their prevention a good site
to start at is http://www.vet.com.au

If you have any concern about RootsWeb's mailing lists I can only
encourage you to firstly read the HelpDesk FAQs at RootsWeb
(http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com) and then get back to me with any
questions.

Regards Andrew
