Clive and Marg M,
I know an example of a couple marrying twice (in Victoria about 1860).
The first marriage between the parties was subsequently found to be bigamous
and consequently void. The groom was sentenced to a term of imprisonment,
during which time he obtained a divorce from his legal wife. After his
release, he "remarried" his ladylove legally.
