As many of you will recall I have been fighting the cemetery renewal process at Karrakatta Cemetery for over a year. This process sees the removal of headstones and surrounds from graves and a new grave being dug in the SMALL spave between the existing coffins. When the headstone goes on the new burial it encroaches over the two older ones leaving no space for a marker nor is one permitted.
This process has seen many of the defence personnel from WWI and previous engagements and in some cases WW2 headstones removed. This includes 26 official war dead headstones.
It would now seem that the fight for a review of the Cemetery Act for WA has brought pressure on the State Government as they are now reviewing the Act. The are calling for submissions on the matter and the details plus discussion paper can be seen at this address.

I released a discussion paper of my own last year and a revised paper July this year. If you would like to read that please contact me off list.
Bright Blessings
Sandra
