Ahhhhhh thanks Sue .... that sounds much more feasible and puts to bed my ethical dilemma :) and explains somewhat the 6 months 'space' in his record :)

'Delta' was a hospital ship used in the evacuation and transport of
casualties from Gallipoli during 1915. It would have been on its way
to hospital facilities in Alexandria, its journey originating possibly
in Mudros, Lemnos or Malta. Presumably the burial at sea was of a
casualty who died during the journey.
