I've been trying to find information on my grandmother's sister, who was
adopted some time in the early 1900s, around 9 years of age. My grandmother
was NOT put out for adoption, but her sister was! I have information on her
sister, i.e. date of birth, marriage name, adoptive parents names which I
initially got from a letter she wrote to her cousins and then from the
census. What I don't know is what agency she was adopted from and WHY she
was put up for adoption.

They lived in Saratoga County, NY and then Corinth, NY. Any suggestions?
