My ggg grandparents Thomas Fielden Slaton and Rebecca Frances George were
married 14 Feb 1840 in Stokes County, North Carolina. They moved to
Jefferson County, Tennessee ca. 1849, effectively founding the Slaton family
in Jefferson County.

Rebecca Frances George is a brick wall. I find the following in the 1840
Stokes County census.

p.144, Bethania District, Stokes County, North Carolina, 1840

George
Jacob 110001 -000001
William 2020001-0010001
James 000201 -2210001

It seems possible (maybe even likely) that either Jacob, William, or James
was Rebecca's father. Can anybody identify these three? They were living
very close together, so they were probably related.
