Dear GEORGE researchers,

Is anyone researching the surname GEORGE with roots in France. Catholic
religon. In checking the LDS records, it is just like having the name
Smith or Allen. Does anyone have a suggestion?

My ggg-grandfather came to New York state from France with his family. His
wife was Catherine (maiden name unknown).

children all born in France:
Joseph Jr, b. 1837
Pauline, b. 1839
Mary Ann, b. 1844
Charles, b. 1841

They were in NY city for awhile and then settled in Oswego Co., NY.and were
in the 1855 State Census.
There are other GEORGE families in this area too with the same origins but
I cannot connect them.
