Greg,

The problem with clicking in different areas is well known in TMG. I and
others have complained about it previously in TMG-L. However, it has
nothing to do with TMG being a 16 bit application. That behavior is a bug
under Windows 3.1 and is still a bug in Windows 95. The fact that it hasn't
been openly acknowledged by Wholly Genes as a bug is something that I've
found annoying. Being a User Interface designer, I am particularly sensitive
to that sort of inconsistency.

That having been said, I've always found the staff at Wholly Genes to be
helpful in trying to isolate the causes of difficulties with their software. The
fact that they raise the possibility that a problem results from interaction
among the software on your system is to be expected. Those kinds of
interactions are one of the most common causes of problems in Windows
(3.1, 95 and to a lesser degree NT). Does that mean that the other
software is to blame (or that TMG is necessarily to blame)? No. It means
that Windows is architected in a way that allows interaction among currently
running software in the use of system resources. It is frequently necessary
to determine which software components interact in order to identify the fix
either in system configuration or in your software product).

To expect that someone at TMG can debug your problem without asking
you to look around (and perhaps make test modifications to) your system is
pretty naive. In their software, as with almost any other, problems arise
which have never been seen before and may not be reproducible on any of
the machines in the hands of the developers. Do you expect someone to
work on your car by looking around at car of the same model in their shop?
Yet that is what you seem to expect from software support

Dick
