Tree-mendous thanks! for your ?s Kate. You've certainly helped put my thoughts in order as I think I've caused uncertainty on my part as to what I need to know in order to locate this WW2 soldier.

1) I wish it were that simple. I have no first name, nor where he is from, where he returned, how long he was stationed in the South Seas, etc. I am so sorry I have no more than what I've given already.

2) If an enlistment record can tell me there is a VANETTI who has served in the South Seas, YES, please how do I go about in finding an enlistment record info.

Do you know if the VANETTIs listed are the only ones I'd have to hunt down to locate my soldier? I'm grateful the surname isn't SMITH or anything as common.
