I have found a family that may be them in the 1880 Census. The last name is misspelled as HITCHGINS.

IF it is them, Margaret is his second wife and Griffith's middle name is Stephen (which was used as a first)

Take a look at:
1880 United States Federal Census > Pennsylvania > Blair > Allegheny > District 159

IF this is the family, this may give you some clues in your search.
