Message Board Post:

I am looking for any death notices, obituaries, or burial information for the following siblings and their spouses:

1. Dr. Charles McLEAN (ABT 1809-BTW 1880 & 1890) m 1832, DC, Margaret M. CAMPBELL (ABT 1810-AFT 1890) d/o John CAMPBELL and Margaret (Peggy) OLIVER of Washington DC. Began his medical career in Baltimore in the 1820s, spent time with his in-laws in Ohio, settled permanently in Baltimore Co by 1844, first Cockeysville, then Baltimore City.

2. William H. McLEAN (ABT 1813-AFT 1890) m 1842, Queen Annes Co MD, widow Margaret A. Wroth HANSON (ABT 1816-AFT 1880) d/o John WROTH and Mary GRANGER of Kent Co MD, possibly his second marriage. Grocery merchant and other enterprises in Baltimore, often with his brother, George W.

3. George W. McLEAN (ABT 1814-AFT 1890) 1m 1841, Dorchester Co MD, Henrietta Maria ECCLESTON (ABT 1820-1843) 2m 1848, Frederick Co MD, Eliza Jane SHRIVER (1820-1907) d/o James SHRIVER and Elizabeth B. MILLER of Fayette Co PA. Eliza Jane was reared in Frederick MD with her grandparents at Union Mills after being orphaned at age 5. George W. was a merchant and business executive in Baltimore and Philadelphia, respectively. He settled permanently in Baltimore Co before 1870, first Cockeysville, then Baltimore City, often partnering with his brother, William H.

4. Eliza McLEAN (ABT 1820-AFT 1860) m 1835 DC, Henry HARDISTY/HARDESTY Jr (??-BTW 1855&1860) s/o Henry Sr and ??? of Baltimore. Merchant in Baltimore. Daughter, Mary O., married Civil War GEN and CA governor George Stoneman of NY.

Other information I believe to be accurate:
*They were all born in Washington DC.
*I have evidence that two of the siblings were Episcopalian. I believe they all were.
*Charles, William, George and their wives are on the 1880 census. George and William are in an 1890 city directory. Eliza is listed as head of household on the 1860 census. Therefore, Eliza was probably a widow and died before 1880, Charles died between 1880 and 1890, and George and William died after 1880.
*Because of the last date of the census in which I found them, I believe they all died in Baltimore (Independent City) as opposed to Baltimore County.
*I have a definite year of 1907 for Eliza Jane SHRIVER McLEAN's death, but, no date or burial location.
*They had two other siblings who I have death information on - Cornelius Jr, lawyer, died 1861 in Annapolis MD, buried in Cecil Co MD and Eugene Eckel (EE), Civil War veteran and engineer, died 1906 in NYC, buried in New York state.

Thank you for any information you can provide.
