Two reference books -- not formal histories -- for settlers in the
Shenandoah Valley are:
Chalkey, Lyman "Chronicles of the Scotch-Irish Settlement in
Virginia: Extracted from the Original Court Records of Augusta County
1745-1800"
[this three volume set of 'abstracted' court records has also been
scanned and is on-line at:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~chalkley/
[go to the index for each volume]
O'dell, Cecil "Pioneers of Old Frederick County, Virginia"
Both books should be available through any kind of good inter-library
loan system.
