Regarding the new GAP pages, has anyone else noticed that the genetic
distance calculations for 67 marker results are one greater than they
should be. At least that is the case for individuals in our Hamilton
project. Thus, for two individuals who match 67/67, the report gives
a GD of one. In another example, for two individuals who match 64/67
the GD is reported as 4. This seems to be a problem only when
comparing 67 marker results; comparisons of 37 marker results give
the correct GDs.
In addition, in treating the null at DYS557 for some of our
participants, rather than treating this as a one mutation event, it
is currently treated as a 15 or 16 mutation event (15 or 16 is the
usual value at this site for our I1a participants). Thus, the
calculated GD of these null individuals from those who do not have
the null is much too high.
I hope FTDNA is monitoring this list and will correct these inconsistencies.
