I would be greatly surprised if they were really identical twins.
They sound like fraternal twins who may look alike. What proof is
given that they are identical? DNA? The old fashioned way to tell
was if there was one placenta or two. Of course, that was not
foolproof either for many reasons.

I have identical twins and identical twins run in my family. Some
take part in the twin studies at the University of Minnesota. As far
as I know, the only way to tell if they are identical is that they
supposedly have identical DNA. Not even fingerprints will be identical.

If identical twins are found without identical DNA, I'm sure the
Univ. of Minnesota would be greatly interested.
