Garet:
I know that DYS413 is very important in the world of J. As a matter of fact we were going to offer this marker, but defered to Thomas as we are working cooperatively to ensure that the most number of Y-STR markers are available to customers with as little overlap as possible. We will announce our lineup shortly in the hope that some are of particular interest to some Listers.

hopefully these people are also being tested for DYS413 at DNAFP. Despite
being J2* they should then have some information as to where they belong in
J2.

just before our second geneticist left the country to deal with an
unexpected family matter she sent Jim two J2 results which were ancestral at
all markers tested (we are testing quite a few J folks). Needless to say,
as soon as Jim gets back to Scotland he will immediately double check these
results (quality control, or a second set of eyes is required before we can
send out specific results). This strikes me as very interesting and I am
most anxious to follow up on this data in relation to haplogroup and place
of origin. It is very exciting to be able to offer people the chance to dig
as deeply into their subgroup (J here) as possible and be able to make new
discoveries.
