The DiGiacomo paper that I mentioned is in the FTDNA library.
http://www.familytreedna.com/pdf/HaploJ.pdf
Semino's paper on E and J is also worth reading
http://www.familytreedna.com/pdf/AJHG_2004_v74_p1023-1034.pdf as are the
relevant parts of Cinnioglu's research
http://hpgl.stanford.edu/publications/HG_2004_v114_p127-148.pdf Ellen's
paper on Jewish DNA has a very well written easy to understand section on Hg
J. http://www.jogg.info/coffman.pdf DYS413 is a very important marker in
breaking down Hg J and is currently offered only by Thomas Krahn's company.
Bonnie can help you with her discounted group ordering . You could also
consider (again at DNAFingerprint) DYS461 and DYS462 as those do have some
significant variability in HgJ.

The recently developed S21 applies to R1b. My comment about "S22" was just a
hint/suggestion to David to carefully look at my J2x Ychromosome for a new
SNP. Hopefully he will see the post. Bonnie suggested testing for DYS445
because a result of 6 would also put Dan in her J2x subclade. I tested
this one through Sorenson and eventually when/if the results are posted I am
positive that my allele will be 6 as the closest 20 matches to my haplotype
in the database are all the robust J2x value of 6.
Cyndi, I've been watching your Haynes surname project and have been hoping

I saw the R1b match. I'm still bummed that John Haines of Warwickshire did
not match with me, as it took me a long time to find another Haynes in my
line. Our paper trail appeared to come together circa 1750. Anyway the
project currently seems pretty small for three administrators, though I
don't mind helping.
