Hey, that sounds pretty lucky to me! It's also another bit of evidence
to support my hypothesis that people who have high-resolution matches,
on both HVR1 & HVR2, are likely to come from the same area.
Now you just need to delve deeper into Swiss genealogical and historical
research. Something I'm doing myself. I'd be interested to know your
haplotype...

That is a fantastic idea, but currently the only publicly accessible
place to do it, that I know of, is the Concordance, which has its
limitations, such as our not being able to add to it. You know who
could make it happen, for real, so that many of us could benefit?
Bennett Greenspan. You just send him a well-argued email about this,
or better yet, call him, and don't let yourself get talked out of it --
it's a superb idea, and he ought to set it up so we can see people who
are NEAR matches on HVR2. I hate to say so, but the guys over there
are all into Y-DNA, and lack confidence in the potential of mtDNA.
When they don't hear from anyone about it, they assume the public also
lacks interest in mtDNA.
It would fit with the current system at FTDNA to add a category of
near-misses on HVR2, after the exact high-resolution matches, but of
course, it would be much better if the whole haplotype of all 105 of
your low-resolution matches were displayed.
That is something beyond their model, which would be just as useful in
the Y-DNA area: to display the full haplotypes of one's Y-DNA matches,
instead of simply listing their email address, place of origin, or
haplogroup. I imagine that only a good deal of agitation by the
customers would have a chance of bringing this to pass. But there is no
inherent reason it couldn't be done. As long as people have signed a
release form and have their setting on 'public,' it would not violate
anyone's privacy. So, folks -- the more people communicate these
ideas to them, the more likely they are to someday respond --
