While there is no genetic disposition to not wanting or liking to drive a
car, I do think this dislike may have something to do with the way the brain
is hardwired. Driving a car takes the coordination of a number of things -
the ability to judge distance and react quickly, the ability to coordinate
hand and eye movements, and so on. Perhaps there is an inheritable brain
defect that makes driving difficult and so these people tend to avoid doing
it. I know that people who are high functioning autistics (possibly
inheritable) often have trouble driving cars. Temple Grandin, a woman with
high functioning autism, also referred to as Asperger's Syndrome, wrote in
one of her books that she had trouble driving a stick shift because of the
coordination involved.

We do know that high functioning autism is carried in some families.
