NZF Roll (World War 2) #34472 Lenihan Michael Andrew, Sapper, 14TH Forestry
Company. Single, Forestry Worker, Golden Downs State Forest. Enlisted at
Nelson. Next of kin as above.

Vermont Street runs off Ponsonby Road, through to John Street, where is
located the Marist Convent & St Pauls College. At the upper end of Vermont
street, on the southern side of the road is the Sacred Heart Convent & St
Columba School. It's possible that Michael was working as a
handyman/carpenter for the Catholic Church in his latter years

Auckland newspaper obituary:
Lenihan, Michael Andrew (No 34472 First World War). On March 23rd 1961 at
Vermont Street, Ponsonby, aged 73 years RIP. Funeral prayers at W
Morrison's chapel, Parnell Road at 11 am today (Monday). The funeral then
leaving for Waikumete Soldiers Cemetery. (There was no mention of who
inserted the notice)

Catholic, 1st NZEF, buried 27 March 1961, Plot 26.

I have his WWII Service Records. He enlisted 21 Jun 1940 at Nelson into the
14th NZ Forestry Coy, with the rank of private & service number 34472. He
was aged 45 years 130 days on the day he was attested (enlisted).
He had also served 4 years 9 months Active Service in the Australian Light
Horse in WWI & his Reg No was 1089.
