Hi Cheryl,
SAWYER: A person who worked in a timber mill or pit, sawing timber into
boards.

There are a number of different sites for finding information. The ones I
find most useful are:
GENDOCS, Ranks, Professions, Occupations and Trades at

<http://www.gendocs.demon.co.uk/trades.html>;

A List of Occupations at

<http://cpcug.org/user/jlacombe/terms.html>;

Hope this helps,

John

It isn't the mountain ahead that wears you down so much, but the grain
