It's just a great pity that there's so much hatred and bitterness in the
world - and
most of it seems to have a religious undercurrent. "Love Thy Neighbour"
has
gone with the wind. At least, this list can stand clear of that! And I
hadn't
realised at the time that Hanukkah this year came on the same day as
Christmas
Day.

I did the same back in 1957, but I thought that the custom of getting her
father's
approval had died out long ago. It's nice to know that some of the
courteous
customs of former times still survive. And I sincerely hope that their
marriage
runs the full course. My wife and I will celebrate our 50th in 2007.

I've missed the list. too. I think that the string of world troubles this
year has
cast a pall of gloom over nearly everything. What with the Tsunami, London
bombings, the Katrina and following tornado disasters, there has been little
to
brighten the world. But the main problem with this list has always been
that
there were only about four or five who were regular contributors. So -
come on,
all the rest of you! How many are on this list, anyway?
