Nancy
I checked in the cook books that have not got buried in the move, and came up with
this recipe, which may be what you are thinking of.
Sherry Custard
1 large egg
1/2 pint milk
1 level tablespoon sugar
3-4 drops vanilla essence, (or add a vanilla pod to the milk , as it cooks)

l level tablespoon cornflower, (optional)

Cream together in a small basin the egg, sugar cornflower and vanilla
Heat the milk to below boiling point, and pour slowly on the egg mixture, whisking
all the time.
This is where the double saucepan comes in.
Pour the mixture into the top saucepan, and steam gently for approx 45 mins, until
mixture does not run together if the back of a wooden spoon is drawn through it.
Water in bottom part should not come more than half way up the top saucepan

Add 3 tablespoons , (minimum) of sherry to 1/2 pint of custard, just before serving
Shalom

isn't safe...but...he's GOOD......He's the King.
