As a dedicated student of history I was most impressed with Peggy's story of her ancestor's kidnapping by the Indians. That's the kind of thing that we want for filling in the background to family histories - the things our ancestors had to put up with. As Lizzie says, this list doesn't really deal in trivia - perhaps it should be renamed Gen-FamHist-Universal, or some such.

My own 4 g-grandfather died in 1765 at the age of 31 leaving a wife and three small children to struggle along by themselves. I know nothing else about him. What he died of, I don't know, but there were a lot of nasties around in those days, and smallpox was not the least of them.
