Thanks, Marlene, that's pretty much what I thought. I am only mildy interested in Wilhelm II, but I found the book going cheap in a second-hand bookshop and couldn't resist buying it.
I am much more interested in his grandfather, Wilhelm I (1797-1888), who may have had a relationship with an ancestor of mine in Berlin in the early 1820s. Unfortunately I can find very little about Wilhelm I in the days of his youth, other than his well-publicized romance with Princess Elise Radziwill.
