I am interested in the Ostertag/Neuhart line that is thought to be connected
to Charlemagne via Sophie de Lorraine. This connection is questionable as
Matthaus I does not seem to have a daughter Sophie (old ES says yes, 1999
version does not mention her).

Seeing his heritage back to Valentine Neuhart and Barbara Wagner (stops
there), it makes me wonder that if he has this title, does it mean his
lineage goes back to Charlemagne and, if so, does it go thru Sophie de
Lorraine?

The Neuhart/Ostertag is part of my family so I am quite interested in the
above.

Many thanks to anyone who can shed some light on this tenuous connection to
Charlemagne.
