"The baby, who will not be given the title of Her Royal Highness, will
instead be known as Lady (with the chosen Christian name) Windsor or
possibly Mountbatten-Windsor. ...

It was announced on their wedding day at Saint George's Chapel, Windsor
Castle in June 1999, that any child would not have the title HRH.

The offspring of a son of the monarch could be styled HRH and born a royal
prince or princess, as with the Duke of York's daughters, Princess Beatrice
and Princess Eugenie.

Anne, the Princess Royal, went to the opposite extreme and decided her
children with Captain Mark Phillips should be plain Master (now Mr) Peter
Phillips and Miss Zara Phillips.

But Sophie and Edward steered a middle course, deciding, with the Queen's
agreement, that their children should take only the courtesy titles of those
born to an earl and countess.

By opting to drop the HRH, the Wessexes are signalling that they hope their
child will be allowed to enjoy more privacy out of the royal media
spotlight.

Their decision also points to a future reduction in the number of senior
royals carrying out public duties."

Dear Mel,

Do you know how they are doing this with the title? I understand that the
daughters of the Duke of York are Princess of York, Princess of Great
Britain and Northern Ireland. Is this baby going to be Lady XYZ of Wessex,
Princess of Great Britain and Nothern Ireland?
Thanks
