Gight line of Gordons was founded by William 1st Laird of Gight, son of
George 2nd Earl of Huntly.
The Earl was husband of Annabel, daughter of King James I., but AFAIK it is
assumed that Gight's mother was Earl's third wife Lady Elizabeth Hay (whose
parents - William 1st Earl of Erroll and Lady Beatrix Douglas were both
descendats of King Robert II. of Scotland). I do not know about any other
possible line to James I.

Catherine Gordon of Gight was reportedly descendant of James Ogilvy, 1st
Earl of Airlie and of his sister Elizabeth - their maternal grandmother was
Dorothea Stuart, whose mother Janet Stewart belonged to the Earls of Atholl
(1st Earl was son of Joan Beaufort, granddaughter of John of Gaunt, Duke of
Lancaster). Ogilvy's paternal grandmother was Jean Forbes, descendant of
Robert III. King of Scotland.


N.B. I have _very_ limited knowledge of Byron's non-Gordon ancestry.
