The royal Jews descended from King David continued to maintain their records
after the Babylonian captivity and well into the Common era. Some have
thought that Theordoric (c725-c793) , Duke of Toulouse, who has many proven
descendants, was actually Makhir, partially documented descendant of these
Babylonian royals.
Some contemporaries still espouse this connection, but it's time to give up
on it. See especially the article by our own Nathaniel L. Taylor, "Saint
William, King David, and Makhir", TAG Jul-Oct 1997..
