I guess my reply would be more to the point if I had remembered to show how
this John Arundel fits into JSG's message
Richard Fitzalan (c1313-1376) Earl of Arundel (Note that this is one of
those strange titles, I think it goes with the holder of Arundel Castle)
]
John Fitzalan (-1397 at sea), 2nd s; Bn Maltravers (aka John Arundel) m
Eleanor daughter (or possibly grand-daughter) and co-heir of John Ld
Maltravers.
]
John (1365-91) m Elizabeth d of Hugh le Despencer
]
Thomas (-1414 overseas); Sir; 3rd s; Of Betchworth, nr Dorking m Joan
(possibly Joan Moyne)
]
Eleanor d&h (one ref states she was co-heir); m1 c1431 Thomas Browne
(1414-1460 Ex) (supposedly of Eyghthorne, Kent, but I think he probably
originated from county Yorks); She m2 Thomas Vaughan of Tretower.
]
Anthony Browne (-1506 Calais); Sir; younger son; m1 (my theory Eleanor d
of Robert Ughtred; Bands read Jan 1487/8); m2 Lucy (-will1531, bur 1534)
d&ch of John Nevil Mq of Montague and wdw of Sir Thomas FitzWilliam of
Aldwark, nr Rotherham
]
Anthony Browne (1500-1548 Byfleet); s&h by m2; PC and standard bearer to Hy
VIII etc etc
