Hi Pat,

The name "Lady of La Haie" for Maud refers to her connections with the town
of Hay on Wye rather than the family of La Haie.

There is a full discussion of the St Valery family in The Genealogist (NS)
vol 30 pp1 - 17. It is indicated there that Matilda is sister to Bernard
(IV) de St V. and Walter (II) de St V., all of them children of Reginald
(II) de St V. (Though some say she may be daughter of Bernard rather than
sister.)

There's an explanation here for the introduction of the name Reginald into
the Braose family (her son).
