Leo,
May I offer my comments? Well, it's a nice and pleasant site, well
conceived (for its purposes) and easy to navigate. Yet I must insist, I'm
really tired with genealogical databases with plainly incorrect info or
no sources. I think that we must draw a very precise separation line
between pop genealogy and genealogy as an academic (or rigorous)
endeavor. For instance, she links to a pedigree that goes all the way up
to Iulius Caesar through the Merovingians from the Carolingians (Ferreoli
male line) through a daughter of Clau-Clau-Claudius who married a
relation of Boadicea... Really, even if this line holds (and I certainly
strongly doubt it, even if we accept that Claudius may have left some
illegitimate daughter in England - he was a well-known womanizer - there
is no way we can prove it with solid evidence). Not to mention the
Ferreoli ancestry for Charlemagne, duly corrected into a descent from
Frankish nobles by Settipani - with all the caveats he adds to his
conclusions.
Gloeckner said, ``all genealogy is hypothesis at the bottom.'' I would
add, no genealogical links without footnotes to support it.
All the best, Chico Doria
