[Dated] the same Wednesday after the same octaves (i.e. the week after the
big feast referred to in the charter preceding this one, which was
probably Martinmas [11 November]), between William son of Bussel de
Bellebi, petitioner (?) and Stephen, son of Walter de Torp and Aldusa, his
mother, tenants, concerning two bovates of land with their appurtenances
in Torp:

[In] an assize of mort d'ancestor, the aforesaid Wm. released and
quitclaimed, for himself and his heirs, to the aforesaid Stephen & Alusa
and their heirs in perpetuity, all his right, etc. in 1.5 bovates of land
with their appurtenances (which aforesaid 1.5 bovates lie in the fields to
the East of Torp); such that the aforesaid Stephen & Aldusa and their
heirs will hold the remaining 1.5 bovates of land with its appurtenances
of the aforesaid William and his heirs in perpetuity, in exchange for the
'free service' (i.e. rent not connoting servitude) of 2s./ 1d. per annum.

[This looks like it actually concerns 3 bovates of land, not two as stated
at the beginning of the act.]
