My understanding is that the king in question, "Dieuxdonee," was the Sun
King himself, Louis XIV. He was give that nickname because he was born
after his parents, Louis XIII and Anne of Austria, had been married and
childless for years and everyone had despaired of Ann ever having a child,
so when Louis XIV was born it was seen as nothing less than a miracle.
