You're correct.

Let me add a second remark, the meaning of `parens meus,' which appeared
in connection with Clovis the Ripuarian. Usual meaning is `my relative,'
something uncertain - a distant cousin, or a granduncle. Sometimes you
use that when you know that there may be a connection, but youy're not
sure which one. Sort of `are you related to X?' `Yes, X is my father.'
The same usage exists until today in Portuguese.
